Were you following the YouTube Sketchies
II Contest? It was a contest on YouTube where users were
challenged to create an original sketch comedy video incorporating a
musical instrument and a road trip. The winner received $25,000 in
cash, $15,000 in production gear, and the opportunity to meet with
UTA Online Agents; it was all sponsored by Toyota Corolla. The lucky
winner was announced after two months of competition with
multiple submission and vote rounds, and the winner was Waverly
Films, who submitted this video entitled "Sherlockbot & The Case of the
Purloined Piggybank."
Second place went to "Voice
Talkers" by P0YKPAC. In my opinion, though, the third place
winner - WhateverHollywood - was the most entertaining of the three.
Check it out.
WhateverHollywood is three friends who
make comic videos together for YouTube. They call themselves Suri,
Apple, and Shiloh: a Stanford grad, an actress, and a
singer-songwriter who combine forces to poke fun at
Hollywood...and we LOVE it!
You've got to check them out for
sure at WhateverHollywood.com and their YouTube
channel. They're a riot. All-American but worldly girls
with a sharp perspective, impressive wit...they're what Sex In The City
might be if the cast was (10? 20?) years younger and bought their
Manolo Blahniks on eBay like the rest of the un-rich&famous
world. Now that's comedy we can
relate to!
