Heart Of Gold Award: Wyclef Jean
Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

There are so many more
reasons to love musician, rapper, singer, producer, and activist Wyclef
Jean than you probably know. So we're throwing this on the front
page and giving major kudos to Wyclef Jean for all that he's done, and
continues to do, to make this world a better place to live in.
He
started Yéle Haiti, a
foundation that changes thousands of lives for people in Haiti by using
music, sports, and media to reinforce projects that are making a
difference in education, health, environment and community
development.
In January 2007, he became a roving ambassador for
Haiti to improve the nation's image abroad.
He's
world-wise. Originally from Haiti, Wyclef lived in Brooklyn, New
York by the age of nine, then northern New Jersey, and has been all
around the world.
His songs have true meaning...unlike a lot of
the crap hits out there now.
He's a notorious
peacemaker, yet he's been shot: and lived to tell
it.
He gives people from all over the U.S. a chance to be
his opening act when he performs in their cities. You heard that
right - and there's no performer we can think of who you'd be prouder to
stand next to! So, go on, send him your
YouTube performance!
He's a Grammy Award-winning musician that
actually takes the time to be a social activist for positive
change.
He is good friends with UN goodwill ambassador (and our
fave actress, of course) Angelina Jolie, and gave her a shout-out in his
new album.
His new album, which was released December 4th, 2007,
is our fave of his to date! Go check it out on his website, where
you can listen to it for free online!
Wait!
There's more! More
