Sarah Palin Isn't Done With Wolves
Monday, April 20th, 2009 by Connie T.

Over just a few days in March, 66 wolves were killed in Alaska,
either shot down by helicopters or planes with aerial gunners. Alaska's recent Board
of Game meeting concluded with the approval of using gas bombs to kill wolves and their
pups hiding in their dens. Under Governor Sarah Palin's administration, record
numbers of these animals are facing death by deadly snares, poison gas, and gunfire.
Why?
As Care2
members point out, neither Alaska nor the U.S. is in danger of overpopulation by wolves. When
food is scarce, wolves produce less and the mortality rate of their offspring decreases. A famous
German philosopher once said, "We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals."
Wolves share a common ancestry with domestic dogs, and species such as the Gray Wolf (or Timber Wolf) actually
survived the Ice Age 300,000 years ago...only to have the majority of its North American and
Eurasian habitat destroyed by humans.
There is something you can do! Sign this
petition, from the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, demanding that the Palin administration
and Alaska's Board of Game cease the senseless bloodshed of our wildlife. The petition is already
over 53,000 signatures strong!
