View Argues Over Ayers, Smear Tactics
Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 by Connie T.
Things often get heated on The View during "Hot Topics" (bad pun and it
stays), and this episode was one of those. Barbara Walters, ever the peacemaker, can't understand
why people can't avoid smearing with regard to the presidential campaign, when there are so many
far more important things to discuss than discrediting one another.
ABC's cast on The View
got to discussing Governor Sarah Palin's recent jab at Democratic presidential candidate
Barack Obama, in which she said that Obama "pals around with terrorists" - in reference
to Barack's association with Bill Ayers. Ayers founded the Weather Underground group during
the Vietnam era, and is known as a radical from the 60's.
"Can't we get away from smears?" Barbara
pleaded.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck's short answer? "No."
"The man is losing," Whoopi
Goldberg said, referring to Republican presidential hopeful John McCain. "The man is
losing, and he's pulling out garbage that didn't work for [Hillary] Clinton, and it's not going
to work for him."
