Young Americans are getting more and more involved in politics these days, and the YAL - Young Americans for Liberty - are
expanding in turn. After Texas Congressman Ron Paul ran for President, a movement across college campuses
and among students to promote libertarian values and emphasize the role of the Constitution in government led to the organization of
students in the YAL, which now has over 500 chapters across the US, from high schools to universities.
On July 1st - just before Independence Day - the YAL is launching a brand new website. Internet users can keep up
with their transition at yaliberty.org.
Additionally,
the organization is putting together a 2009 YAL National Convention, to take place in Arlington, Virginia July 30th through
August 2nd.
As for Ron Paul, who has endorsed the YAL and the Campaign for Liberty, he is continuing to promote his bill HR 1207 (more info on his homepage,
a quest to increase transparency in the Federal Reserve. He is also criticizing the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control
Act as a further step towards Tobacco Prohibition (liberties "seized for your own good"), opposing the Foreign Relations Act
(HR 2410, which authorizes funds to socially develop Pakistan and pose military interference in Belarus, Sri Lanka, West
Papua and elsewhere). Both he and his son Rand Paul continue to attend speaking engagements across the US to raise awareness
about these and other issues.
Let's continue to work to promote and encourage freedom!
