Tyra Banks Turns Into A Chess Piece
Thursday, May 29th,
2008

It's a chess piece...no, it's a salt shaker...no, it's a rubber stamp...nope, you're
all wrong! It's Tyra Banks on the cover of this weekend's issue of The New York Times
Magazine. And it's the same old comparison: "Martha...Oprah...Tyra. Is she the next
big female branded self?"
Writers keep asking this question. What we don't get is why
they always have to be grouped together like that. Martha Stewart is relatively soft-
spoken, and is a domestic diva of recipes and crafts. Both she and Oprah Winfrey are at least
two decades older than Tyra, and distinctively different; but certain women always have to be
stacked up against each other nonstop.
You don't see the mags musing if Rachael Ray will
be the next Barbara Walters, do you? We're just saying - it's getting annoying.
