Think about the number $2.4 trillion for a
moment. Of course it's too high a number for us to really get a
grasp on what it might look like, or what it could possibly
do.
If you think of it in terms of how it could
help the climate, or the economy, or health care: well, by God, it
could work wonders.
Unfortunately, the $2.4 trillion, will be
going towards the Iraq War.
A new report by the non-partisan
budget analysis group for Congress - the Congressional Budget Office -
found that the total cost of the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan
(without adding Iran into the mix) could reach $2.4 trillion dollars by
2017.
The report said that an additional $705
billion can be added for interest payments, if the wars continue to be
financed by government borrowing. Dude,
you know we're borrowing it, right?
And you know we can't afford it,
right?
Here is a video clip of today's hearing at
The House Budget Committee to discuss the growing costs of the
occupation. And here's the kicker: the Republicans on the
committee did not even show up!
No offense to you Republicans out there - I
know it's not your fault - but what are we all going to do??
Great, this is totally going to add to my stress levels.
