1st Lt. Thomas J. Brown of Burke, Virginia died on September 23rd in Salman
Park, Iraq, from wounds suffered when his patrol came under small arms fire during dismounted
operations. He was 26 years old.
Lt. Brown was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry
Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division out of Baumholder, Germany.
Thomas was
due home for leave in 20 days and had planned to spend time with his 85-year-old grandmother and traveling
to the Caribbean with his girlfriend, mother, and brother.
