Third Party Presidential Candidates In May

Monday, April 28th, 2008

We felt kinda good about providing an update on the third party Presidential candidates this month.  It didn't get as many comments as other things might, but it's somewhat fulfilling to cover those that are out there struggling to campaign without the recognition that top-dollar candidates do.  Maybe one day the Presidential elections in the US will be set up so that it's all on public broadcasting and campaigns don't need to accrue a combined $859.4 million + that could be spent on pressing issues.  Anyhow, here's the update for third party events in May.

*all times below are in EST*

Constitution Party:  Former Republican Alan Keyes has a few radio interviews scheduled for May so far:  May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Green PartyCynthia McKinney has quite a few things set up for May:  On May 1st, she's rallying with dockworkers to "stop work to stop the war" at 10:30am; then attending a Rally for Immigrant Rights in Oakland at 3:00pm; then a potluck social and campaign fundraiser in Oakland at 7:00pm.  On May 3rd, Cynthia is participating in hearings on Detroit's Water Cutoff Policy.  Her next event after that will be a Fundraiser and free screening of American Blackout in El Sereno, California.  Kat Swift doesn't have any events scheduled yet for May, but you can check back at her site.

Libertarian PartyBob Barr will be at the Connecticut LP Convention at 5pm on May 4th; the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs on May 5th; and the Denver, Colorado LP National Convention on May 22nd.  Mike Gravel will hold an event at the College Perk Coffee House in College Park, Maryland from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, April 30, but does not yet have any events posted for May.  Daniel Imperato recently met with the leader of the MPA independent party for Sicily in Rome; he doesn't have any upcoming events posted.  Steve Kubby hosts The Steve Kubby Show on blogtalkradio Monday's through Friday's at 12 pm; he will be at the Libertarian National Convention on May 22nd.  Michael Jingozian will attend the Libertarian National Convention May 23rd-25th.  George Phillies will attend the Libertarian Party State Convention in Connecticut and the Libertarian National Party Convention in Denver, CO.  Wayne Allyn Root does not have any upcoming events posted.  Mary Ruwart will attend the Connecticut LP Convention in New Haven, CT and the Libertarian National Convention.

IndependentRalph Nader spoke Sunday in Waterbury, Connecticut to about 100 supporters.  His latest news and events are here.

ThirdPartyWatch is a frequently-updated site that keeps tabs for you on what the independent and third party candidates are up to, which is cool, so check them out, too.
