Can you believe it's Season 11 of
The View? And I still love it. I
miss Rosie O'Donnell on the panel; but I think that all the ladies
compliment each other perfectly so that even if you're mad at one, you're
cheering on the other (in most discussions). It seems the flu is
going around in Hollywood - Janet Jackson was just out with it when Mariah
Carey filled in for her on SNL this weekend.
And today, Whoopi was absent from The View panel, also with the
flu. One of the rare times you may be glad you're not in
LA.
So, The View came in today to talk about what everyone
in America (except for DMX) is talking about: Barack
Obama's ties to Pastor/Reverend Jeremiah
Wright. Elisabeth Hasselbeck and
Joy Behar got fired up at each other over whether or not
Obama should be considered liable for the statements that some consider to
be segregational and/or anti-American. Barbara Walters, ever the
peacemaker, gently descends with her calming voice to ease the tension in
the room.
Check out the video:
Elisabeth Hasselbeck,
not surprisingly, manages to sneak in a John McCain plug smack in the
middle of a sentence, with only a pause for a breath. Notice
that?
Who wouldn't want to know - or be Barbara
Walters, though? I could never maintain that unbiased and
polite persona...so noncontroversial. Polished, but never
cold. Always embracing with words. How does she do
that? I doubt I'll ever manage the balance of opinion and detachment
that she can. But I admire her so.
