Yes, it's a "Hallmark" holiday, and it's only celebrated in the Great Lakes
region of the United States - mostly midwestern states. In fact it's been said that the
holiday was created by the candy industry to increase the sales of sweets. But who doesn't like
an excuse to celebrate?
Regardless,
we'd like to wish all of you a Happy Sweetest Day.
According to many, the holiday
actually originated in our native city of Cleveland, Ohio in 1921 through the Cleveland
Plain Dealer.
Sweetest Day is
celebrated on the third Saturday of October, which is today, and is a day for buying cards, candy,
flowers, and/or small gifts for your loved ones. So from us to you: Happy Day, sweetie!
