Stephen Colbert Discusses
William F. Buckley With Richard Brookhiser
Friday, February 29th, 2008
Love that Stephen
Colbert. On today's Colbert Report on Comedy
Central, Stephen Colbert reminisced about William F.
Buckley, aka "Bill" Buckley (who passed away this week) and how he may have changed modern
Conservative thought. I wasn't a Buckley fan, but Colbert's
conversation with Richard Brookhiser, Senior Editor of
The National Review, was humorous and entertaining.
"What
did he do for Conservatism?" Colbert asked. "He could swallow his
opponent like a snake. He would unhinge his jaw and just slip
himself right over their argument and swallow them alive,
wouldn't he?"
But, come on,
Brookhiser, let's not pretend that media is so much more free today than
it was when there were "three networks." The only difference today
is that there are now five - and in some
form or another, they're all in cahoots with each other now.
Which is debatably worse.
