Spike Lee Professes We Are In A New America
Wednesday, November 5th, 2008 by Connie T.
Spike Lee - among the giant crowd
at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois last night to celebrate Barack Obama's victory - was on MSNBC's Morning
Joe this
AM discussing his feelings about the United State's new President, and what he calls "a new America."
"America's made a seismic shift, as I've said, I will continue to keep saying, as far as race goes," Spike said. "I think
the signal to me...with the Iowa caucus. Because there are 2 1/2 black people in Iowa. And when he won that - that's
that's when I think a lot of African Americans said, you know, this thing could happen; because we understood
us voting for Barack could not make it happen alone."
Does that give you goosebumps or what? It really is
a monumentally historic moment for America. Regardless of whether or not you voted for Barack Obama it's now time
for us to pull together as a nation, get positive, and embrace this change.
"It feels great to be American
today," Spike continued. "I think this is a great thing to be a citizen of the world. What happened yesterday affects the whole world."
