Update On US Soldiers Killed In Al Anbar Province
Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Three soldiers were
killed in action on Thursday in the Al Anbar province of Iraq, and their names have now
been released by the Department of Defense (DOD). The Marines were Lt. Col. Max A. Galeai, 42
years old of Pago Pago, American Samoa; Capt. Philip J. Dykeman, 38, of Brockport, New York;
and Cpl. Marcus W. Preudhomme, 23, of North Miami Beach, Florida.
The Marines were
assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3d Marines, 3rd Marine Division, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, out of
Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
They were fatally wounded while supporting combat operations for
Operation Iraqi Freedom. Capt. Dykeman and Lt. Col. Galeai were hit by hostile fire, and Cpl. Preudhomme's
death was attributed to a suicide bomber, who was reportedly dressed in a police uniform and detonated
an explosive belt during a meeting of tribal sheiks. The AP
is reporting that an al-Qaida front group posted a claim on an Islamic State of Iraq website
today claiming responsibility for the deaths; about 20 Iraqis were also killed in the incident.

Max Galeai was the commanding officer of a Hawaii battalion of over 1,000 Marines and sailors.
Please keep their friends and family in your
hearts and prayers.
