Guess what DVD hit store shelves today?
Yeah, I ruined the surprise with the title and the picture. THE
SMURFS!! Remember those lovable little blue things that lived in
mushroom houses, ran from Hogatha and Gargamel, and answered to Papa Smurf
when things went wrong? That's right: Smurfette, Brainy,
Jokey, Clumsy, Dreamy, Chef, Vanity, and all the others are now available
on DVD for Season One.
The rights to the old Hanna-Barbera series
now belong to Warner Brothers, who released the first DVD of the series
February 26th. The first season contains nineteen episodes, which
include "The Smurf's Apprentice," "The Smurfette," "Smurf-Colored
Glasses," "All That Glitters Isn't Smurf," "Smurphony in C," and
more.
The Bonus Features are a "Smurfs Springtime Special" and a
Smurfs music video.
Here's some interesting Smurf trivia from wikipedia for you in
celebration of the blue guys and girls. And no, they are not paying
us to tell you this. We just love the smurfs:
The smurfs originally made their debut in French, in the
late 1950's.
Smurfs can walk and run, but often move by skipping on
both feet.
Strangely enough, some people believe
that the foundation of smurf society resembles the basic principles of
Communism.
Much like Strawberry Shortcake replaced "very" with
"berry," the Smurfs used "smurfing" as a noun and verb to make their
sentences more...interesting.
Nanny and Grandpa Smurf are said to
be 100 years old eternally.
