Sylvester Stallone Endorsing...Human Growth
Hormone?
Sunday, January 27th, 2008

Doesn't this figure. Just days
after we gave Sylvester Stallone a virtual pat on the back for
the attention he's bringing to the crisis in Burma with his new Rambo
movie...he has to go and say something utterly ridiculous. In
the February 4th issue of Time Magazine, Sly is
speaking out in favor of...it's a doozy...wait for it...Human Growth
Hormone (HGH).
On the heels of the much-publicized Mitchell Report - an independent investigation into
the illegal use of steroids and other performance-enhancing substances by
players in Major League Baseball (including Human Growth Hormone) - Sly is
coming out and saying it ain't no thang but a chicken
wang.
"HGH is nothing," Stallone told Time. "Anyone who calls it a steroid
is grossly misinformed. Testosterone to me is so important for a
sense of well being when you get older. Everyone over 40 years old
would be wise to investigate it because it increases the quality of your
life."
"Mark my words," he added. "In 10 years it will be
over-the-counter."
Sly just told us (at UFC Live) that he
stays young-looking by working out and eating right. But apparently,
if he's advising on HGH from personal experience, working out is not
his only secret.
But this is actually public knowledge:
In February of 2007, if you recall, Sylvester was charged with importing a
prohibited item after Australian Customs officials found 48 vials of the
human growth hormone Jintropin in his personal luggage. Hormones are
banned by the Australian Commons Act and are not approved by the U.S. FDA
for general use.

Rely on yourself to be informed, and don't
believe everything just because a celebrity says so. Even
Rocky.
Here's the lowdown from Quackwatch.com: "HGH is a substance secreted by
the pituitary gland that promotes growth during childhood and
adolescence...Many marketers would like you to believe that boosting
HGH blood levels can reduce body fat, build muscle, improve sex life,
sleep quality, vision and memory, restore hair growth and color,
strengthen the immune system...'turn back your body's biological
clock.'"
"HGH is useful for treating growth hormone
deficiency in children and adults and has several other proven
FDA-approved uses. But the American Association of Clinical
Endocrinologists has warned that the clinical use of growth hormone as an
anti-aging treatment...is
not recommended."
