Simon
Cowell: Nice Guy
Tuesday, March 18th,
2008 By Esmerelda

Okay, so nice isn't the first word you
think of when Simon Cowell is mentioned. But we may have
to rethink our opinions. Simon recently wrote a personal check in the
amount of $162,000 to Randy and Amy Stoen. Their daughter has a rare and
aggressive form of cancer known as alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. Madelaine is
three years old.
Amy and Randy travel 100 miles round trip daily
for her chemo treatments. Medical bills and missed work is causing a huge
burden on the family. When Simon heard about it he wanted to help out so,
he paid off their mortgage.
Simon says he was inspired by
Oprah's Big Give.
You may not have enough
money to pay off someone's mortgage but you have time and resources to
help others who are less fortunate. If you can't donate to a charity of
your choice then perhaps you can spend time with a nursing home resident,
volunteer for a literacy program or do work for Habitat for Humanity.
While money is nice, time can be equally valuable.
