family

In October of 2007, we posted
an article about Sgt. First Class Trey A. Corrales,
a highly decorated U.S. soldier for over a decade who was facing a
charge of premeditated murder for killing an unidentified Iraqi civilian
that his platoon believed was an insurgent, planting roadside bombs near
Kirkuk in northern Iraq.
It was alleged that Sgt. Corrales
entered a house with his platoon to search for insurgents and shot the
Iraqi man on June 23, 2007. Corrales' family was stunned - his
father released a statement that his son followed the orders of the 25th
Infantry division and was charged for shooting "an escaping Iraqi
terrorist." His family also said that the prisoner had tested
positive for explosives in an area where US helicopters were being
shot.
He fought for the US in Macedonia, Bosnia, Kosovo,
Afghanistan, and Iraq; his military record was flawless as a Sniper
Instructor, Airborne Instructor, and Pathfinder
Instructor.
Corrales' legal expenses were a burden on his wife
and family. On July 18th, 2007, he was charged with the
premeditated murder, resulting in his family having to mortgage all that
they'd worked for to pay legal counsel. In our article we
asked that people help Sgt. Trey Corrales, whether it be a donation
to assist with his attorney fees or just a word of support for serving
our country.
Here's the good news!! ConnieTalk has been in
contacted with Sgt. Corrales' wife, Lily, and this month she sent us the
news that her family had been hoping and praying for, for over nine
months.
Hi Connie!
This is Lily, wife of SFC Trey
Corrales. I wasn't sure if you heard the great news. On
April 25th (1 day before our 11th wedding anniversary) Trey was
acquitted of all charges and found NOT GUILTY! We could
not have asked for a better outcome.
We would like to thank you
for your support and please give everyone who also had us in their
thought and prayers a BIG Texas style thank you from the Corrales
Family.
Lily Corrales and Family.
Our best wishes and congratulations go out to
Trey, Lily, and their family. We as Americans are forever indebted
to our soldiers for their bravery and sacrifices on behalf
of all of us.
