Sesame Workshop - who owns Sesame
Street - released a new Sesame Street Video called "Talk, Listen,
Connect: Deployment, Homecoming, Changes." The video is for
children who have a parent or parents that left for, or returned from the
Middle East or the Iraq War, and addresses how children can deal with
their emotions about it; even their emotions about parent returning with a
war injury. In it, Elmo says his father was deployed three times,
and Elmo became sad and more dependent on his mother.
In both English and Spanish,
the video will not be aired on television but instead distributed to
schools, child care programs, and family support centers, or can be
downloaded at www.militaryonesource.com/.
"This follow-on DVD
to talk about the changes, dealing with new medical injuries - living in
the 'new normal' - is tremendously important," said Army Col. Loree K.
Sutton at the workshop launch. Sutton is the chief of the new
Defense Center of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain
Injury.

The "new normal???" We're hoping a version of
this makes it on Google Video or
Youtube, because we're curious to see what the "new normal" supposedly
is now.
