"The White House promised or assured the American people that
at some point when this was behind us they would talk publicly about it. And
they have refused to." -Scott McClellan, June 20th
It's been a while
since we checked on Rosie O'Donnell's blog,
one of the sites we like to surf in our free time. Rosie's readers write in about
nearly every significant current event going on, and our latest visit proved no
different. We always find gems of information there.
"OMG!" a reader named
Carol wrote in. "Are you watching Scott McClellan testifying?? This is
fantastic!! All the networks should be carrying this - like Watergate!!"
"And they are not," Rosie replied.
Indeed - where has the press coverage
been for McClellan's testimony before the House on Friday? We flipped on Larry
King Live on Friday night, and there was not a word: instead, there was Vince Neil
(who, by the way, has a completely
different nose than the one we remember),
Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, and Mick Mars. It was an interview
about Motley Crue reuniting. Yawn.
Anyhow (see how the networks distract?!), back to McClellan: Scott
testified that former White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card told him that
per President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, McClellan
was to publicly say that Lewis "Scooter" Libby was not involved in the leak
of CIA operative Valerie Plame.

Libby, of course, was involved,
and was later convicted of perjury, obstruction, and lying to the FBI. Bush then
commuted his sentence.
"The continuing cloud of suspicion over the White
House is not something I can remove, because I know only one part of the story,"
McClellan said. "Only those who know the underlying truth can bring this to an
end. Sadly, they remain silent." Exactly...so let's make the
whole wall of them testify!
