Mariah Carey:  Keep music in our schools, it's educational

At VH1's Save the Music 10th Anniversary Gala, stars such as Mariah Carey, John Mayer, Babyface, James Blunt, Vanessa Carlton, and Jon Bon Jovi showed up to show their support for brainpower through music education.

Mariah Carey, flanked by eight body guards (does she really need that many?) told reporters, "I feel like this night is important for children and parents because music actually does help children learn.  It's scientifically proven.  When schools start cutting [music] programs, it's very disheartening."

We agree, although those high-pitched recorders in elementary school could stand to be swapped out...
