Equal Pay, Equal Pay, Equal Pay!
You may have already heard this news, but it's certainly worth celebrating again. One of the first bills that President Barack Obama signed into law was the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. The bill will make it easier for women workers to sue employers for pay discrimination, nullifying a 2007 Supreme Court decision that gave employees only 180 days to act on pay discrimination.

Marvelous Malia And Sweet Sasha Renamed
Early last month Ty, the makers of Beanie Babies, debuted dolls called Marvelous Mariah and Sweet Sasha for $9.99 each, bearing a cartoonish (at best) likeness to the adorable daughters, ages 10 and 7, of President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama.

America Awaits Answers From Big Banks
Nearly half of the $700 billion bank bailout money has been allotted and spent: the the strange thing is, so far, only the banks know how. The bailout plan meant to assist the problem of housing foreclosures has yet to slow the economic freefall, but next week we may get some answers.

Iraqi Elections Finally A Success
Um...wasn't George W. Bush telling us for years that the Iraqi people were having successful elections thanks to U.S. involvement? Indeed, it was over 3 years ago when former President Bush was boasting of promising Parliamentary elections in Iraq, though boycotts and violence still flourished.

Exxon Makes Excess Of 45 Billion
Ah, what would we do without the Detroit Free Press? Layoffs may be abounding everywhere from Macy's to Starbucks, Kodak to Target, Caterpillar to Sprint, Harley Davidson and the Home Depot to United Airlines and Williams Sonoma (literally!), but but somewhere Exxon execs are smiling.

Jessica Simpson Isn't The Media's Only Target
It took less than a week for photos of Jessica Simpson performing at a chili cook-off in Pembroke Pines, Florida to make its way to tabloid magazine covers, headlines on Faux FOX News, a cruel sketch in the NY Post, and even into a conversation between Matt Lauer and President Barack Obama on live TV. The subject wasn't the great chili, though, nor the power of her pipes, but of the weight the media so excitedly announced she has gained.

Now May Be The Time To Fly...Commercially
Because of a shaky economy that has prevented consumers from splurging on vacations and luxuries, airlines are offering some pretty amazing rates starting this week for those that are yearning for a getaway. Southwest Airlines is selling flights as low as $49 and up to $99 for roundtrip tickets to most of the destinations it has available!

Whatever Happened To The Oprah Ball Gown?
Okay, so by now most of us know that Barack and Michelle Obama were dressed for a second wedding at the Presidential Inaugural Youth Ball. But after the endless media speculation as to what special guest Oprah Winfrey would wear...where are the pics?

Rosie O'Donnell Opts To Quit Blogging
For the past few months, what little was posted on Rosie O'Donnell's website contained hints that the actress/comedienne was wrapping up her days of blogging. Her homepage began redirecting readers to Rosie's Broadway Kids, with a single link trackback to seldomly updated information (and we can relate to that after surviving another bustling holiday season!).

Iraq Journalist Chucks Shoes At President Bush
We took a little break from blogging, but what better way to come back than to show President George W. Bush's ducking skills? The man can duck. It looks like he's had practice at this. During a surprise news conference in Baghdad, Iraq, President Bush was met with a reporter throwing his size 10 shoes at him, as the man screamed, This is a farewell kiss, dog! in Arabic.

At the beginning of the month, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich told the press that U.S. governors are seeking up to $100 billion to be added to any proposed federal stimulus plan to cover state costs. Blagojevich was one of 48 governors who met with Obama this month to request assistance in a nearly two-hour meeting in Philadelphia, PA. Just days later, however, Blagojevich was entwined in scandal and President elect Barack Obama issued a statement calling for Blagojevich's resignation.

Similar to the shoes flying yesterday, the bailout of the auto industry is up in the air. An announcement hasn't been made as to whether or not the $25 billion the Big 3 Auto makers (Ford, Chrysler and General Motors) have requested will be granted.

Hubby Tim McGraw already has his own fragrance. Next year Faith Hill will join him and a few other celebs in the perfume industry. The scent will be made by Coty, the same company that manufactures Tim's. I'm assuming they'll be compatible to one another. There is no word on what the scent will be named.
