Rosie O'Donnell Loses MSNBC Primetime
Deal
Thursday, November 8th,
2007

Poor Rosie! And we were so
excited about it. Rosie O'Donnell was in talks with MSNBC to star
in a primetime deal that would've had her in the 9 p.m. time slot, right
after Keith Olbermann, and competing with CNN's Larry King, as reported
by the New York Times on Monday.
However, Rosie was dropping hints at
book signings for Celebrity Detox, and on Sunday told fans in
Miami that she would soon be competing against "the guy with the
suspenders and the long, long face" - Larry King.
And then on Tuesday, she told the
audience at a stand-up show at the New York Comedy Festival, "We're
filming for an unidentified TV station, which I was told I was not
allowed to mention. You don't tell me what I'm not allowed to say,
because then I can't help but say it!"
"They told me not to mention this
possible show," she continued. "And they are men in business
suits. Nothing is scarier than men in business suits screaming at
you over the phone."
The comments she made about the
upcoming show caused MSNBC to tuck tail and run. So, yesterday,
she posted the following on her official
blog:
"msnbc / one hour / live /
following keith olbermann
we were close to a deal / almost done / i let it slip in miami /
causing panic on the studio end
well / what can u do
2day there is no deal / poof / my career as a pundit is over / b4
it began
just as well / i figure / everything happens for a reason / bashert
- as we say
and on we go"
She posted a video blog today, and said, "You heard the big whole
MSNBC thing, listen - it's alright. You gotta believe what happens
is supposed to happen. We were in the bottom of the ninth inning -
we were almost there, the game was almost over, and, uh, no, it's okay,
'cause I'm not quite sure that a pundit would have been the best thing
for me.
"But who knows? I was willing to maybe, maybe try it, but, just
as well. But hey, Keith Olbermann? The best new show on
TV. If you're only gonna watch one, watch that guy.
Important stuff he's saying, every night.
"Bravo, Keith Olbermann."
Waaaaah. Who needs TV? Her video blogs are popular
enough...be yourself, Ro!
