Presidential candidate and Congressman
Ron Paul posted a video update for his supporters today that many were
hoping to hear, after the media giants went back to work on Monday
misinterpreting Paul's Friday newsletter as a preclude to
quitting. On the RonPaul2008 YouTube channel yesterday, a video
entitled, "Ron Paul: Going The Distance" campaign
update had Paul promising to fight through the Presidential race until
the bitter end.
Well, we shouldn't say bitter, because if the
White House houses Ron Paul and his wife of over 50
years...it could only wish to be so
lucky.
"It's now one year since the Presidential campaign
started," Paul began, referring to his decision in February of 2007 to
run. "We have raised a lot more money than I ever dreamed, we have
a lot more supporters than I ever dreamed, and we've had a lot of
attention drawn to our message - so I feel very good about
it."
"Our numbers keep growing, and the funds
keep coming in, and I've said all along: the campaign is going to
continue as long as there are new people coming into the campaign and
that we're able to be financed.
"So this campaign is not over,
although there's a declaration now that there's a so-called
winner." Oh Ron Paul...you make us laugh on dreary
days.
"It's not over till it's over,"
Paul reiterated. "There are going to be several more - even in
this month - that we're going to be paying attention to...certainly
after March 4th, we're going to be very active in those particular
states that are still going to have their primary."
"We do have
to be very positive about what we've achieved this year," he said.
"Far beyond all my expectations, and far beyond the expectations of most
of those individuals in the media who wrote us off rather
quickly.
"Because there have been 11 individuals now who have
filed on the Republican side, been in the debates...and we're
down to three now."
It's a major task, he said, "running
a race to save the country, to change the direction of the country, to
preserve our Constitution, to change our foreign
policy."
"Our foreign policy is so crucial, because once we get
involved in these worthless, useless, unnecessary, undeclared wars, we
drain ourselves. And that's what's happening to
us today. And they would like to charge that we are not
patriotic, that we're not American, and the troops don't support
us."
"Our funds exceed all of the other candidates' that come
from active military duty people. We get more money from active
military people than all the other candidates - all the Democrats and
all the Republicans. Which tell us: we're on the right
track."
The question is: do you want to be a
part of history? Do you want to attend a national event -
use up one or two of those hard-earned vacation days -
and visit the nation's capitol? Because we're going, and we want
you to come with us. Find out how, after the jump!
"We're at this point where we have to do
something major. We know the shortcomings," Paul said, "of dealing
with the major media."
What idea is he tossing out
there?
"We ought to make a grand display. We ought to have
a true march, to show what our numbers are...a March on
Washington could be very, very valuable. It could send a
powerful message where the media can't ignore us.
"I'm at a point where I think
we have to make a grand stand, we have to
stand firm, and see where the numbers are, and be counted...so for me,
I'm sort of getting excited about this...if we do this right, and if we
really have a grand rally and a grand march, then there are question
marks left...then they will know, that we can't be ignored."
"So
I'm throwing this out as an idea, and I'm hoping everyone will
join."
He also mentions that there has been great music
associated with the campaign and that it would be a fun rally...hey, fun
or miserable, we don't care, count us
IN!!!
Remember United for Peace and Justice's March on Washington in
March of
2006? It was a fantastic grassroots success, with more than
1300 local and national groups coming together and thousands of
supporters that joined together to protest the war.
We don't even
care when it is - nothing would stop us from going!
It didn't escape
us, either, that the video has been rated 3,390 times, but that the View count
is stuck at showing 213 no matter who goes and watches it. That doesn't seem
to happen to any of the other candidates on YouTube. Hmmm.
