Is Anyone Going To Act On The 'Murdoch Agenda' Surrounding Ron Paul?  Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

I'd like to share a message from a reader about the recent story we did on Ron Paul.  As we told you, presidential candidate Ron Paul appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno regarding being excluded by FOX News from the Republican Debates in New Hampshire.  It is not the only censorship Paul has received, either:  despite leading Rudy Giuliani in the polls, Ron Paul has received less mass media coverage on the major cable channels than probably any other candidate who is still in the race - on either side.

So, welcome to another installment of Dear ConnieTalk.

  Hi ConnieTalk,

After Google led me to your Ron Paul/Jay Leno story [we love Google!], I was most interested to see your 'How To Make A Difference' sections.  This is an enormous problem when it comes to thousands, even millions of people voting to choose just one post (in this case, US President).  Most of us are too busy to do more than watch the news.  A minority would have seen Jay Leno interview Ron Paul.

So how do we make a difference, such as stop candidates who rely on media bosses to keep courageous honest candidates from even being heard?  Even if we don't vote at all, and the great majority of US voters don't, one of the two who rely on media bosses will be declared winner (and the media will suppress debate on whether the majority do NOT want a Democrat or Republican).

My efforts have been to encourage the reporters and editors, many of whom are honest, to do what is right...

What that broadcast audience [at the Tonight Show] heard supports my concern that there are 'rogue' editors at FOX News whose actions damage its reputation in the eyes of millions of NBC viewers.  Of course there may be a 'Murdoch' political agenda and it was followed faithfully by editors at FOX News.

Rupert Murdoch and his big industry mates depend and thrive on protection by governments rather than through their competence in free markets.  They particularly need to suppress Paul's messages of peace and constitutional US government; just as the unconstitutional US government needs the public to believe the propaganda about 'democracy' and 'free' markets.

If Ron Paul and I are wrong, FOX News can prove it by follow-up reports and debates to answer Jay Leno's interview.  If I am right, FOX News can suppress Paul's messages and instead publish false attacks on Ron Paul rather than his message, and try to silence the likes of Jay Leno.

Please prove Ron Paul and me wrong!

Thank you,

Jim"

Read our reply, after the jump!

Dear Jim,

Thank you for the long letter, and for your concern about media censorship.  It's a sad but true part of this industry.

I myself am surprised to find how many people agree that FOX News provides selective and slanted coverage, yet still turn it on to check the news and weather in the morning.  Many people are counteractive that way.

As pleased as I was to see Jay Leno go against the grain by inviting Ron Paul to the Tonight Show and breaching the subject, I'm disappointed, as you are, by the lack of follow-up on the issue.

No one can read the story and say he was treated fairly by FOX.  He just wasn't.

So what can we do about it?

Well, for one, I'm publishing your letter.  All of our articles are indexed by Google News, often on the front page, and the more people that read about it, the more will be irked enough to take action.

And for everyone else, here's a little list we've come up with to make it easier for you to say, "that was not okay."

You do not have to be a Ron Paul supporter to be angry at the mass media for this.  As Jay Leno says - here in America, we like to see everyone get a fair shot, regardless of whether or not we agree with them.

Let's all stand up for equal opportunity.

Here are two places to copy the following simple sentence:

I would like to know why Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul was excluded from the FOX New Hampshire debates, when Giuliani - lower than him in the polls - was invited.
