Robust Cell Phone Cancellation Fees Finally Returned
Wednesday, May 20th, 2009 by Connie T.

Have you ever been blown away by the cost to cancel a cellular phone account? I think
most of us have - and now some of us will be reimbursed. Not including me, but that's typically the case.
The United States District Court of New Jersey has ruled that the ETF (early termination fee), generally of
$200, that was charged to T-Mobile customers between July 1999 and February 19th of 2009 was unlawful.
Because of that, customers who paid or were charged a T-Mobile flat rate between those dates could get a benefit from
a class action lawsuit settlement. (For full details, related Court docs, deadlines and forms visit ETF-Settlement.com.)
Good for New Jersey! And that's not all: there is a $21 million settlement fund out there for wronged Verizon customers,
another for Sprint and Nextel, and one for
California customers
of AT&T or Cingular between 2002 and 2007 (over $31 million).
When cell phones first became popular, a lot of us were
ripped off by hidden fees and service costs...it's nice to see that hasn't been forgotten. Kudos to all those who were involved
in getting these suits off the ground for the reimbursement of consumers.
