Iraqi Journalist Chucks Shoes At President Bush
Monday, December 15th, 2008 by Connie T.
We took a little break from blogging, but what better way to come back than to show President
George W. Bush's ducking skills? The man can duck. It looks like he's had practice at this. During a surprise news conference in Baghdad, Iraq,
President Bush was met with a reporter's size 10 shoes whizzing by, as the man screamed, "This is
a farewell kiss, dog!" in Arabic.
Ever the man to make the first joke, Bush told reporters after the incident,
"I'm okay. It doesn't bother me. So what if he threw a shoe at me? All I can report is it is a size 10." Actually, it
was two shoes.
President Bush was uninjured, but White House Press Secretary Dana Perino was not
so lucky: she suffered a black eye from running into a microphone during the chaos.
Throwing shoes is a sign of
disrespect in Arab culture. Doesn't it look like W. had a half-smile right after the first shoe?
What's
almost equally as interesting as the game of sole is the way black suits came pouring out of the door in the wall
faster than you could say "Shoe you!"
Well, this video will go down in history: it will be the subject of
millions of news articles and YouTube remixes from here to infinity. But you must always remember...you saw it here
first!
