Pregnant Woman Tasered By
Police In Ohio Friday, November 30th, 2007
Calling all
moles! I need more information on this one...I get especially
angry about stories that hit this close to home! We're still
searching for any possible video of this incident, and will keep you
updated as to any further developments.
In Trotwood Ohio, a
policeman tasered a pregnant woman to the ground this month, and used a
stun gun on her - in front of her one-year-old son - when she
refused to answer an officer's questions and reportedly
resisted being handcuffed. Authorities released the news
yesterday.
The woman went to the police department on November
18th, asking them to take custody of her little boy. Authorities
say she stated she was "tired of playing games" with the child's
father.
According to Trotwood's Chief of Police & public
safety director, Michael Etter, the woman refused to answer questions,
became frustrated and tried to leave with the child. The officer
did not want her to jeopardize the child and decided to detain her for
more information. He grabbed the woman, got the child away from
her, and forced her to the ground, and when she "resisted being
handcuffed," he used the stun gun on her.
She was wearing a
winter coat and Etter said she did not tell the officer she was
pregnant. She was then arrested for obstruction and resisting
arrest, and was transported to jail, where it was discovered that she is
with child.
The condition of the woman - and the fetus - is not
known, and the FBI is said to be investigating the arrest, as well as
the police department itself. The officer is still on duty.
The woman's name has not been released to the media.
I'm assuming
there must be video on this, since it occurred inside the police
station. Get that video, Feds! And release it to the media
while you're at it! If anyone has more info on this story - the
name of the woman involved, or additional/developing details - please send them our way. So far, this is the
only photo we've got:
