Pregnant Teen Drama Wins Award, Of Course
Wednesday, August 6th, 2008 by Connie T.

How's this for a follow-up to our article "Is
There Any Wonder The US Is Battling Teen Pregnancies?" The Secret Life of the American
Teenager, an ABC "Family" show about a 15-year-old Christian teen who gets pregnant,
has won a Teen Choice Award for Choice Summer TV Show.
This annoys me on
two different levels. One, the same reason I stated in the previous article: the mass media
loves glamorizing teen pregnancy, which is a problem that shouldn't be popularized by
a superficial storyline.
And two, there can almost never be a plot that involves someone
of Christian or Catholic religion who does not have some sort of immoral twist. Why is that? In
the new X-Files movie, for example, there is a Catholic priest discussed. No sooner is his religion stated
than he is revealed to have been a criminal pedophile. The obvious director's choice, and the
continuation of the incessant targeting
of Christianity and Catholicism in the media.
