Could We Lose The US Postal Service?
Tuesday, June 16th, 2009 by Connie T.

Last year, the US Postal Service lost $2 billion dollars. And according to MSN's
Money Central blog,
the USPS is considering job cuts of up to 3,100 offices, first class mail volume is plummeting, and broadband
internet "will probably eventually finish off the Post Office."
What?! How will I send my packages? How will
I communicate with my pen pals, if I had any? Okay the first part I'm serious about. Online bill paying and banking
is one thing, but even with electronic shipping labels there needs to be somewhere to drop stuff off...and someone to
bring it to and fro!
MarketWatch
reports that the Postal Service is already considering stopping Saturday delivery. Yeah, because we can all afford to take off
from work to wait in line (I mean, there are still some SERIOUS lines!) to send packages, or apply for passports.
Will FedEx and UPS become the main deliverers of our mail? Or are they too in danger of losing to modernization? Stay tuned, we've
subscribed for updates and will post the latest when it becomes available.
