Hillary
Wants
An Indiana Debate, Barack's Not So Sure
Friday, April 25th, 2008
Democratic candidates have had 25
televised debates and 1 radio debate, and still have at least two more
debates coming up: in Raleigh, North Carolina and in Portland,
Oregon. But Hillary Rodham Clinton wants to
participate in a debate in Indiana as well - who will be holding their
primary the same date as North Carolina, on May 6th - and has accepted the
invitation from the Indiana Debate Commission to participate.
Barack Obama, however, has not said that he will not
participate in an IN debate, but a campaign spokesman for Obama said yesterday that it's not his top priority; his
number one priority is being able to "have a direct conversation with
Hoosiers about the issues impacting their lives."
The spokesperson,
Nick Kimball, said Indiana residents "want a chance to question the
candidates themselves...[but] I don't think they're going to get too
concerned about whether or not some debate moderators from news outlets
have an opportunity to ask them questions."
Hillary Clinton's
campaign reportedly sent out a press release called "Debate Watch Day 1"
on Wednesday to draw attention to Obama's reluctance to participate in
additional debate(s). If Obama chooses to participate, the debate
would air on CNN and/or PBS.
What do you think? Would you be
disappointed if there was no IN Democratic
debate?
