Polar Bears Starving, Drowning For Lack Of Ice
Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 by Connie T.

This is really, really sad. This week we told you about how Vice Presidential
candidate Sarah Palin used her role as Governor in Alaska to sue the George W. Bush
administration for its decision to list polar bears as an endangered species. This decision was
made after summer sea ice - the polar bears' much-needed habitat - sank to a record low last
year.
Now, the news for polar bears gets even more dire. As the Arctic Ice continues
to shrink, polar bears are resorting
to cannibalism, as the ice melts and they are starving from lack of access to their
natural food sources, and drowning.
Thankfully, the bears are still listed as a
"threatened" species - but no thanks to Gov. Palin, that's for certain.
 2 Ways
You Can Help: 1.Send
your comments to Dept. of the Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne, asking him to grant
the polar bears full-fledged protection as an endangered species. 2. If you can
afford a gift of at least $25 to the World Wildlife Foundation, you can adopt
a polar bear and save one of these majestic creatures yourself!
