Horse
Drawn
Carriage Rides Are Cruel

The image above is a billboard that is up in Times
Square in New York City. You know that we love, love, loooove singer
Pink. But this is something we weren't quite expecting. Alecia
Beth Moore, aka "Pink," who often works side by side with PETA as a
spokesperson, wants you to know she thinks horse-drawn carriage rides are
cruel.
"Every time I see a horse-drawn carriage in a concrete
jungle, I point and yell 'animal cruelty' at the top of my lungs to try to
make the driver and the occupants as uncomfortable as possible," she
said. "It honestly hurts my heart when I think of what those horses
must be feeling, as far as anxiety and fear, and how unnatural and wrong
it is for these animals to have blinders on, trotting up and down on
concrete, while taxis blare and people scream. It's absolutely
unnatural and ignorant of us to continue this outdated tradition. What
about
this is romantic?"
Wait, isn't she adding to the yelling by yelling in
front of the horses?
Ah, but we love Pink regardless...she has such
a huge heart for animals. And you know we're animal rights
enthusiasts! To read what else Pink - and PETA - has to say on the
subject, visit PETA.org/Pink.
But what do you think? Are
horse-drawn carriage rides cruel?

Whether you are for or against
horse-drawn carriage rides in NYC, you can contact Mayor Michael Bloomberg
