Hogan Gets 8 Months In County Jail, No Drinking For 5 Years

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Nick Bollea aka Hogan

Nick Hogan, 17, was sentenced in the Sixth Judicial Court of Pinellas County, Florida this afternoon.  The judge imposed a sentence of 8 months in the Pinellas County Jail.  Nick could have received up to five years behind bars, although the victim's family - former longtime friends of the Hogan Bollea's, did not ask the judge for that maximum to be imposed.  He will also have 5 years of probation (of which he'll receive 8 months credit served during his incarceration period).  His license will be suspended for 3 years of those 5 of probation.  He will not be allowed to consume alcohol - as John Graziano's mother requested of the court - for 5 years.

Nick was found to be under the influence when he caused the August 2007 car crash in which Marine John Graziano was put into a coma.

Bollea, whose stage name is Nick Hogan, will have to perform 500 hours of community service, as well as attend a DUI school before the end of his first year of probation.  Court costs were also imposed.

His jailtime began immediately after the sentencing.  His father, "Hulk Hogan" Terry Bollea, mother Linda Hogan Bollea, and sister Brooke Hoga Bollea were present in court; Terry and Brooke both read written statements.  John Graziano's mother, girlfriend, and family were also there and read statements before the sentencing.

Media Claims Clinton Campaign Kaput

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

Today's headlines.

CBS...CNN...MSNBC...many commentators across the MSM board are claiming it's over for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton.  The results from Tuesday's primaries in Indiana and North Carolina - though not 100% reported yet - have Clinton the projected winner in Indiana with 51% of the vote (37 delegates), and Barack Obama the projected winner in North Carolina with 56% of the vote (62 delegates).  Although the mainstream implies it's a done deal - Barack Obama will be the Democratic nominee - it's worth keeping in mind that these same channels have aired for months on end those who said Clinton should drop out of the race to give the Dems a push.

"Some in Washington are saying we need to end this," Hillary Clinton said this week.  "I think we want to keep this going so the people of West Virginia's voices are heard...I am running to be president of all 50 states."

She added that critics of her campaign dubbed Obama the Democratic nominee even before New Hampshire, Ohio, Texas, and Pennsylvania.

Primaries that have yet to take place for the Democratic ticket:

May 13:  Nebraska, West Virginia
May 20:  Kentucky, Oregon
June 3:  Montana, South Dakota

Truth be told, it is still statistically possible for either candidate to win the Democratic nomination.  So for either side to claim that one has it in the bag is just what the mass media has made of this entire race all along:  speculation.  It's kind of sad, to us at least, that the New York media has been so hard on Hillary, their own Senator, when they should be so proud of the first female U.S. presidential candidate to blaze a trail in this man's world of presidential politics.

Or else that's why.

US Marines Leave Afghan Opium Poppy Fields Untouched.  The Taliban can make up to $100 million per year from the harvesting of poppy fields in Afghanistan - money that will buy weapons for use against US, NATO and Afghan troops.  But as the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit moved into southern Helmand province last week - the world's largest opium poppy-growing region - Marines reassure villagers that the poppies will be left alone.

LoJack On Your Pizza??

Thursday, May 8th, 2008  by Esmerelda

Papa John's pizza hit the billion dollar mark in web sales. That includes computer and text message sales. Other companies have also seen a rise in online ordering.

Domino's has taken it to a whole new level. Not only can you order your pizza via text message you can track it's progress either online or from your internet enabled telephone.

So I'm guessing that if somebody rips off your pizza you should be able to track it down the perpetrator yourself.

Mariah Carey Confirms Wedding, Changes Tune About Children

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

I know, you're totally shocked.  We thought they were rumors, the publicity machine on overgrind as word hit the 'net that Mariah Carey, 38, had married Nick Cannon, a 27-year-old who got his TV debut on Nickelodeon and claims various occupation titles, from rapper to comedian to record producer and actor.  Yet, the wedding veil don't lie:  Cannon's family confirmed that the pair wed at Mariah's private estate in the Bahamas - after just six weeks of dating - and the Carey-Cannon's have gone to People Magazine with their private wedding snapshots this week.

Just weeks ago, Mariah was quoted as saying, "I don't think I could properly educate a child right now.  Maybe in the future, but I actually haven't thought about it.

"For now, I enjoy my dog Jack's company.  It's definitely because of childhood traumatic stuff.  The whole not wanting to have a baby as a baby.  I never wanted to feel violated and I know that's kind of a weird thing to say, but that's how I am."

But now, Mariah told People that having kids is on the horizon, and that it's "Part of the whole purpose of getting married."

Well this is whirlwind at its most whirlwind, y'all!

Moment Of Truth Arrives For Nick Hogan

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

It's been a long time coming - the better part of a year.  Nick Hogan, nee Nick Bollea, is due in Pinellas County Court tomorrow and is expected to enter a plea in the case of the August 2007 car crash that left Marine John Graziano in a coma.  Nick Bollea had been classified as being under the influence of alcohol, as well as speeding, by police.  Nick was arrested and charged, bailed out, and the pre-trial moved forward.  Tomorrow, Bollea will enter his plea of "guilty" or "no contest" before the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida.

During the pre-trial hearings, additional evidence was gathered by the State Attorney, including background information on Nick (it's likely that his past driving record will be taken into consideration).

John Graziano's family are invited to speak at the sentencing hearing, at which Nick could receive up to five years in prison.  John Graziano remains in a semiconscious state.  In March, Graziano's guardian filed a lawsuit against the Hogan family, including Hulk Hogan (Terry Bollea), Linda Hogan (Bollea), and Nick; the cost of John Graziano's care has exceeded a million dollars.

No Word On President Bush Boycotting Beijing Olympics

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

It looks like I will not have to digest a scarf.  President George W. Bush has given no indication that he will boycott any part of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, despite an international cry for action.

In April, President Bush told ABC News, "I don't view the Olympics as a political event.  I view it as a sporting event...Every time I meet with the Chinese president - and I've met a lot with him - I bring up religious freedom and human rights."

The Obama-Paul Dream Ticket
 Thursday, May 8th, 2008

Barack Obama and Ron Paul for President.  Impossible, right?  But who makes it that way?  There is perhaps no one more skilled in the effort of pitting "left" and "right" against each other than the two-party system itself.  For example, on April 10th, Rick Davis - the Campaign Manager for Republican Candidate John McCain - sent out an e-mail to Republicans entitled, "40 Million Attacks By The Far Left."  Terms like "liberal megadonor," "billionaire left-wing Democrats," and "liberal left" were tossed around as liberally (pun intended) as the April 30th e-mail from the National GOP Headquarters itself, which boldly announced "the left-wing attack machine is spewing venomous falsehoods again...the extreme left playbook."

Men's Underwear Has Come A Long Way Baby
Wednesday, May 7th, 2008  by Esmerelda

Image via Annie Mole

I was surfing the internet looking for something interesting and what did I find but a blog dedicated to men's underwear. I guess that shouldn't have surprised me. People blog about everything now.

I can say that, after reviewing the site, I'm not sure if the old question boxers or briefs is adequate anymore. My husband usually buys his undergarments at the local chain store so the variety of styles was an eye opener.

I doubt that I'll ever be able to convince him to buy any of the underwear featured on the blog but, I've definitely got it bookmarked. A girl has to keep up with the trends you know.

You can check it out for yourself at mensunderwearblog.com and let me know what you think.

Keira Knightley On Kissing Her Way To Stardom
Wednesday, May 7th, 2008  by Esmerelda

Keira Knightley recently shared that she was initially embarrassed to be a part of the Pirates of the Caribbean project.

She stated that she was just a teenager when she started and here she was having to tell people that she was doing a movie based on a theme park ride.

"But then suddenly I was kissing Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom and bang, there you go, instant bloody stardom."
