on the Heels of Miss
USA: The bigger, the badder - MISS NEVADA ! ! ! |

And I'm not kidding.
The pageant is all about women who are visually appealling -
with their gowns, their bodies, their parading around, the Vaseline on the
teeth, the perfect breasts, the glued-on smile. Women today are no
longer the meek whisper of "World Peace" from the 1950's Miss USA.
We have worked to be appreciated for our brains as well as our
beauty. That should be incorporated into anyone is supposed to
represent perfection of the thousands and thousands of women they beat for
the crown. Rubenstein Public

| News you can Use: ENFORCE "No Child Left Behind" |
| "How can you say No child is left behind We're not dumb, and we're not blind." -Pink, "Dear Mr. President," I'm Not Dead 17 million children are attending schools that undermine thier health and learning, because the Bush administration has failed to follow through with properly allocating dollars for their hyped-up program. Do not stand for this. Sign this petition that goes to Rod Paige, Secretary, Department of Education telling him that you want funding for healthy schools. The Healthy and High Performance Schools Program was created to alleviate problems such as mold, pesticide use, lead-contaminated water and asbestos exposure in aging public schools. These exposures lead to asthma, which can be extremely serious in children. Please fill out this petition, it's easy to do. Post this as a bulletin on your MySpace page! | Talks with North Korea on Nuclear Weapons End With No Agreement |
| Talks with Beijing about North Korea's
nuclear weapon possibilities have ended with no progress and are expected
to resume next year. The United States and North Korea are
supposedly trading blame.
These talks have been going on for three years; the US, China, South Korea, Japan and Russia have tried to convince North Korea to end it's nuclear programs in return for diplomatic and financial benefits. Although North Korea agreed in 2005, they haven't budged an inch, and even conducted its first nuclear weapon test in October. So, let me get this straight: we're still in a country that we've turned upside-down and found no nuclear weapons - and, meanwhile, we're sending the message that North Korea can have them and test them, and we'll do nothing. TELL YOUR CONGRESSMAN THAT THIS IS NOT OKAY . I don't care who the country is, or the person, having a nuclear weapon is not okay with me. Pink is getting active with
PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), and she has a message
for you this holiday season: "I am calling on consumers to
check labels on sweaters before buying them, and if they're merino wool or
[any animal fiber] made in Australia, leave them on the racks." The video, narrated by Pink, and available on PETA's
website, is not something you want to watch. I watched it, and I
deeply regret watching it. However, I will not buy Australian wool
ever again. |

| Donald Trump and Rosie O'Donnell Fight | ||||||||||||
|
Rosie O'Donnell ought to pick her fights with someone else, because we all know how nasty Donald Trump can get (think Donald vs. Martha Stewart). I was going to write about this whole Miss USA scandal, but I really can't get a handle on how I feel about it. If you hadn't heard, Miss USA was reported by the media to be underage drinking, using illegal drugs (she allegedly tested positive for cocaine), and partying nonstop. She met with Donald Trump - the semi-new owner of the Miss USA enterprise - and they later held a press release together where Miss USA Tara Conner cried, said Trump has a huge heart, and that she is very sorry. Donald decided to give her a second chance, saying that she's just a down-home Kentucky girl that got caught up in the whirlwind of New York, and that she could be an excellent example for "troubled people" if given the chance. So, anyways, here is your play-by-play:

| Women For Peace Ask America to Say No to More Troops |
|
Their website has an easy form to fill out that is automatically sent to your U.S. senators, your member of the U.S. House of Representatives, and your nearest daily newspaper. What an amazing formula. The form tells them that you oppose sending more troops to Iraq - and there is also an optional checkbox at the bottom that adds: "I will not vote for or support any candidate for Congress or President who does not make a speedy end to the war in Iraq, and preventing any future war of aggression, a public position in his or her campaign." You can send the form as is, or add your own personal message as well. Filling out the form took me only about 60 seconds, and sent my voice out to 4 government officials and one large newspaper. Do you have 60 seconds? Post this article as a bulletin on your MySpace page! Copy and paste the text below into a new bulletin post: |

I'm sure I'll get some more hate mail on this one, because some people are greatly opposed to free handouts for the poor. I will defend this the way I always do: "Whatsoever you do, to the least of my people, that you do unto me." And if that offends you...well, sorry.
He pulls together leftovers from fancy Manhattan restaurants, combined with donations from food charity programs, and turns them into a little slice of heaven for the people that can't afford to buy their own meals. "I am taking nothing away from the art of high cuisine in good restaurants, but here I feel like I am making a difference in people's lives," he said.
