I'm more of a cat person than a dog
person, although I love both, but I've been saying stop the puppy mills (and overzealous
breeders) and go to shelters for...well, I can't quite put a date on
it. A couple of years, at least. Sometimes on my blog,
sometimes to whomever will listen...sometimes to brick walls. Well
that's what it feels like at times. Anyhow, Oprah
Winfrey's beloved 13-year-old dog, Sophie, passed away last month
after suffering kidney failure, and I feel sooooo bad for O - her
golden retriever Gracie just died less than a year ago after choking to
death on a small ball. Oprah's crew created a video tribute to
Sophie today, that had Oprah choked up...and probably everyone in the
audience! And maybe you after you watch it!
Sophie has been
such a part of Oprah's show. Remember when The Dog Whisperer
analyzed why Sophie cried when Oprah or Steadman left the house? Or
when Sophie had a luncheon? Oprah then had the founder of Mainline
Animal Rescue, Bill Smith, on the show to discuss a
billboard put up especially for O.
