Ohio Hit With New Wave Of Job Losses
Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 by Connie T.

It's shaping up to be a very bad month for the State of Ohio. PNC Financial Services bought up
National City Bank, and though PNC's CEO Jim Rohr insisted
that most of National city's 7,800 Northeast Ohio jobs are safe, he declined to comment on the
futures of 2,000 employees at the bank's downtown headquarters.
Chrysler is cutting off
salaried and contract workers by at least 25%, and is reducing shifts
at their Toledo, Ohio Jeep plant, laying off at least 825 employees more than originally stated. 250 layoffs are
expected at the Twinsburg Chrysler plant.
DMAX, the manufacturer of diesel engines used by General Motors,
have announced that over 280 Ohio workers will be laid off in mid-November at their Moraine Plant.
And finally, Value City Department Store has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and is liquidating its 66 stores. Value
City first opened in Columbus, Ohio in 1917. As many as 4,000 workers across 14 states, including Ohio, will
lose their jobs.
Hang in there, Buckeyes!
