Reunion Would Mean Giving The Fans Our All

News Kids on The Block
fans have been eagerly waiting for an update on the reunion of NKOTB that
was essentially confirmed via their website last month. Though
additional videos have been added to NKOTB.com on a video screen called NKTV - including
"Hangin' Tough," "You Got It (The Right Stuff)", "Tonight," "Step By
Step," "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind)," "Please Don't Go Girl," and other
previously-released songs plus a brand new song called "Close To You" - no
e-mail updates have been sent to fans about the reunion, yet.
But,
since a new song has been recorded and the website revamped with "Are You
Ready?" it seems like only a matter of time. And we've got some good
news for you - we've dug up an interview that Danny Wood gave to Jarrell
Mason of WUAG-FM The Time Machine / NJS4E in July of 2007: and Danny
told Jarrell in an extensive, ten-part interview that if the band got back
together, it would be much bigger than just a one-time
thing.
Jarell Mason: Now,
explain to me the whole Bands Reuniting thing on VH1.
Danny
Wood: Um, well, basically, the whole thing with the NKOTB
is we haven't done anything together, um, yet, you know. So for me,
when anyone comes to me, you know, saying, do you want to do this TV show
about the group or whatever, I always say no. Because if we're going
to do anything together, it's going to be on our own terms and in our own
control. So I've gotten a lot of negative feedback from a lot of the
fans, like, 'Why didn't you do that?' But there's a couple
things. First of all, like me and Donny have always have had like a
pact that, look, we won't do anything like that, you know, unless we're
going to do it together. And that's number 1. And Joe, too,
like I've talked to Joe about that. Then also, Bands Reunited, if
you look at some of the bands that are one
there...
Jarell: They're all kinda like,
C-list.
Danny: C-list...D, E, F-list!
They had the Flock of Seagulls on there - that dude, the drummer in Flock
of Seagulls - was the electrician at my house here in
Miami.
Jarell: For
real?
Danny:
Yeah.
Jarell: Wow. Fallin' on hard
times. Where are they now?
Danny: Well
he's doin' alright, he's got his own little business, he's alright, but
it's like, they - what do you expect, they only had a few hits, so...that
show? I never want to be classified with those...on that show.
That's the bottom line.
Jarell: Right, and
definitely hearing it from you - great move. 'Cause I know Jordan
and Jon said yes to it but you, Donny, and Joe all declined to do
it.
Jarell: Now I know
the fans want to know this. Will there ever be a chance that New
Kids will do like one night only...because I know the international fans
and the fans over here, they just wanna see you guys one last time, and
just close that book and be like - bam, we did
it.
Danny: Well, I think if we're gonna do
it, it would have to be a larger plan than a one-night
only. I think we would wanna do it where we really give the
fans what they deserve, which would be probably like rerecording the
songs, maybe doing a few new songs. Maybe it's a Vegas thing, maybe
it's a world tour, something. But for us, I think there would have
to be you know a plan, someone to help us implement the plan, you know,
like a heavy hitter in the music business to implement the plan, and do it
that way. I don't see any other way we'll get back together
otherwise.

In other NKOTB news, more of you voted (29%) that you wanted to marry
Joey McIntyre back in the day than any other bandmember. Jordan
Knight was a close second with just 3 votes less (also
29%); Jonathan Knight third at 15%;
Donnie Wahlberg fourth at 14%; and Danny Wood was last at
4%.
