Yikes! A woman in Lubbock, Texas
was about to board a flight to Dallas when she was stopped by the
Transportation Security Administration (TSA). 37-year old Mandi
Hamlin says she passed through the metal detector, but was then scanned
with a wand version that beeped at her chest. Mandi advised that she
was wearing nipple rings, and claims she offered to show the female TSA
agent her...jewelry...in private. Instead, several male officers
were reportedly called over, who said she would have to remove the
hardware.
High-powered attorney Gloria Allred - who is a household
face, if not name - is taking on Hamlin's case. Attorney and
client describe a situation where the woman had to remove her nipple
piercings with a pair of pliers, was reduced to tears, and was even
laughed at by some of the male TSA agents.
Wow. I've had to
remove a naval ring with pliers, and believe me, it can really
hurt! Really, really, really hurt! As Allred said in a letter, "The skin can often heal around the piercing,
and the rings can be extremely difficult and painful to remove."
See? I can't even imagine doing that on...okay, let's just watch the
news conference, where Mandi takes a pair of pliers to a peach bra with
nipple rings on it.
