Nick Hogan, 17, was sentenced in the
Sixth Judicial Court of Pinellas County, Florida this afternoon.
The judge imposed a sentence of 8 months in the Pinellas County
Jail. Nick could have received up to five years behind bars,
although the victim's family - former longtime friends of the Hogan
Bollea's, did not ask the judge for that maximum to be imposed. He
will also have 5 years of probation (of which he'll receive 8 months
credit served during his incarceration period). His license will
be suspended for 3 years of those 5 of probation. He will not be
allowed to consume alcohol - as John Graziano's mother requested of the
court - for 5 years.
Nick was found to be under the influence
when he caused the August 2007 car crash in which Marine John Graziano
was put into a coma.
Bollea, whose stage name is Nick Hogan,
will have to perform 500 hours of community service, as well as attend a
DUI school before the end of his first year of probation. Court
costs were also imposed.
His jailtime began immediately after the
sentencing. His father, "Hulk Hogan" Terry Bollea, mother Linda
Hogan Bollea, and sister Brooke Hoga Bollea were present in court; Terry
and Brooke both read written statements. John Graziano's mother,
girlfriend, and family were also there and read statements before the
sentencing.
