So much
happened on Valentine's Day...we never should have taken the day
off! Time does not stop for love, even if it seems like it.
But this news is just as uplifting: the NAACP Image Awards took
place on Thursday, and some of your favorite stars were their in all their
glory. Big winners included Alicia Keys,
America Ferrera, Chris Brown,
Jordin Sparks, Stevie
Wonder, Denzel Washington, Tyler
Perry, and Aretha Franklin at the 39th
Annual NAACP Image Awards.
The NAACP Image
Awards is an annual awards ceremony similar to the Oscars or the Grammy's;
it's presented by the American National
Association For The Advancement Of Colored People
(NAACP).
Alicia Keys took home the awards for Outstanding Album
(for "As I Am"), Outstanding Female Artist, top song, and top music
video. Ferrera won Best Supporting Actress in a comedy series.
Janet Jackson snagged Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her
role in "Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?" and Tyler Perry's "House Of
Payne" won Best Comedy Series.
Christ Brown was named the best
Outstanding Male Artist; Jordin Sparks won Outstanding New Female
Artist. Meanwhile, Stevie Wonder was the recipient of the Hall Of
Fame Award, and Aretha Franklin the Vanguard Award. Actress Ruby Dee
also got special honors.
Denzel Washington's "The Great
Debaters" won four awards, including top film, and an acting
award going to Denzel. The film is based on true stories of an
African American debate team in the 1930's.
Doesn't he look lovely
bald, too?
