Row, Row, Row Your Boat

If you're upset about your morning commute remember that things could
always be worse.
I'm sure you all heard about the flooding in Missouri this
spring. Well did you know that there a people who are still flooded?
There
are thirty families who are still basically stranded on a island in Table Rock
Lake. To get off the island they have to use a boat to get to the other side to
get to work or to purchase groceries or supplies. Not so bad you say?
They
also don't have access to ambulances, fire services, propane or buses for the kids
to go to school. And sometimes the weather isn't so nice. They've been at this
since March and the lake level is still about two feet higher than the level of
the road that was there.
The state would evacuate them but then they'd have
to worry about vandals and the floating bridges that are available throughout the
Missouri National Guard are too large. The one access point is an overgrown road
that is privately owned and they can't get permission to use it.
So fill up
your commuter cup, crank up the tunes and relax. You could be rowing to work in a
canoe.
