Scott McClellan To Appear On MSNBC With Keith Olbermann
Thursday, May 29th,
2008

Yesterday we reported that we'll be reading Scott McClellan's new book,
entitled "What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of
Deception." It's being officially released next week. McClellan
has chosen NBC on which to be interviewed about the memoir, and he will be appearing
on the "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" on MSNBC tonight at 8 PM ET.
We've been
thinking more about McClellan, though. We're definitely going to watch
him on MSNBC tonight - we'll clip the best parts for you. But as far as
buying the book, we're suddenly uneasy about contributing to the windfall this book will
probably get.
Those who have gotten their mitts on early copies of the book say that
McClellan's memoir accuses President Bush of purposely manipulating and misleading the American public
with political propaganda to transition us into war with Iraq. Then it criticizes the
news media for not doing a good enough job of examining the justifications for invasion and
occupation.
Trust me, we do more than our share of criticizing the mass media; but
of course McClellan is going to blame this on the MSM. Wouldn't you detract
blame if you had witnessed the masses being lied to for three years, yet acted to the
public like everything was peachy? McClellan says he didn't object to the way the war was
handled at the time because he gave the President the benefit of the doubt.
We suppose it's rather courageous that McClellan
resigned and is telling his tale, but still. Wouldn't a patriot yell it from the rooftop
back before we were so far entrenched in this neverending conflict?
Anyhow, forget the
news media, it's like we've been saying all along: why wasn't Congress doing something about it?
