Louisiana Results Still Kept Mum; Ron Paul Campaign Files Caucus Challenge   Sunday, January 27th, 2008

Just what in the world happened in Louisiana?  We reported on Thursday how it was being said that Senator John McCain placed first in the Louisiana Republican caucus, with Ron Paul a close second, and Mitt Romney third.  But suspiciously, almost a week after the LA primaries, the Republican Party of Louisiana (LAGOP) has still not released the official results.  And presidential candidate Ron Paul is ready to cry foul.

On Friday, the Ron Paul campaign filed a letter with the LAGOP, both contesting the legitimacy of delegates' credentials, and asserting mistakes in provisional ballots by the LAGOP (including nearly 500 that could change the outcome of the election), according to a press release by the Ron Paul campaign.

"The initial failure of the Louisiana GOP to properly determine who was and wasn't eligible to vote threw this entire process into disarray," says Ron Paul's campaign manager, Lew Moore.  "However, voter eligibility was just one of many irregularities with the caucus process."

Indeed, the inability of the LAGOP to provide final numbers, as well as the absence of the Louisiana Republican caucus results in the media, is quite suspect to us.  We'll be calling the press rep for the LAGOP tomorrow to try and get some answers.  Stay tuned!
