Bush Signs FISA, ACLU Sues
Friday, July 11th, 2008

Yes, we were mad enough to make that graphic. Can we get a hip, hip, hoorah for the ACLU? At 1:17 pm in the Rose
Garden yesterday, President George W. Bush signed the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 (H.R. 6304).
And immediately after he signed it, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) - who dubbed the
Act "President Bush in the Rose Garden with the Constitution and some White Out" - sued.
The lawsuit is called Amnesty v. McConnell. Says ACLU Executive Director Anthony D. Romero:
"Spying on Americans without warrants or judicial approval is an abuse of government power - and that's
exactly what this law allows. The ACLU will not sit by and let this evisceration of the Fourth
Amendment go unchallenged. Electronic surveillance must be conducted in a constitutional manner
that affords the greatest possible protection for individual privacy and free speech rights."
Evisceration...nice.
Traitors Members of the Senate and the House who
joined Bush for the signing of the Act were Whip Jon Kyl, John Boehner, Roy Blunt, Steny Hoyer, Jay
Rockefeller, Kit Bond, Silvestre Reyes, Pete Hoekstra, and Lamar Smith. Attorney General Michael
Mukasey and Admiral Mike McConnell were also present and thanked.
By the way, we want to thank
New York Loner for pointing out
to us that telecoms AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon not only gave over $8,000 on average to each US House
Representative that changed their vote (in favor of granting the telecoms wiretapping immunity), but
also gave an average contribution of $19,678 to members of the US Senate for the same purpose
during the 07-08 election cycle.
And, sadly, the top three Senate recipients of the dirty
money were John McCain ($365,955), Hillary Clinton ($246,747), and Barack Obama ($220,789).
This could explain why Obama is getting heat from the left for going along with the FISA bill despite
his qualms about the immunity provision.
 1. Refuse to do business with AT&T,
Sprint, and Verizon - the companies that infringed on innocent Americans' right to
privacy by tapping their phone and internet lines without warrants. And don't worry, we hear
the new iPhone sucks.
2. Make sure you know how
your Representative(s) voted. This is important to know when they're up for re-election...and you
won't forget it!
3. Please sign
this petition and donate at least $10 to the ACLU. They are representing the People...something the
Government is supposed to be doing.
4. Wear your cause! It's a great way to spread the word. We have both FISA apparel and Freddie
Krueger / AT&T appparel in our Wear Your Cause shop!
