LeBron James Is Our MVP
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009 by Connie T.

He's only 24 years old, and LeBron James is the NBA's Most Valuable
Player (MVP) for 2008-09. In 2008 he was the NBA Scoring Champion, and with "King James'" help,
the Cleveland Cavaliers are fighting their way through the playoffs right now.
The MVP news was announced yesterday - LeBron beat out Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade - at
a press conference at James' old high school, St. Vincent-St. Mary in Akron. A former coach of his
told press that he knew LeBron was special at 9 years old, when he was doing things none of the other kids
could do on the basketball court.
"This school right here, I just graduated six years ago. I'm not
that far away from you guys," LeBron told the crowd. "This school helped me become the man I am today." It
was, he added, "where all my dreams started."
We cannot tell you how proud we are of the Akron / Cleveland, Ohio native...to see all of the young
people at LeBron's old school cheering and holding up shirts and signs that said "We are witnesses" - the
same slogan that appears above a building-sized LeBron illustration in downtown Cleveland - he's giving
hope to kids in Northeast Ohio who may not have had any before him. And no haters allowed...he is the first Cleveland Cavs
player to ever earn the award, so let us have our moment! Our hat's off to you, L-Train.
Send us
