Michael Kors Fashion Show lined with protestors
Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

Fashion designer Michael Kors hosted a Spring 2008 Bryant Park fashion show on Sunday, but what went on outside was far from celebratory. NYC Animal Rights staged a protest, with signs ranging from "Michael Kors Fur Scum," to "Real designers don't hurt animals," to "Michael Kors tortures."
Kors was cited by the Humane Society this year for using dog fur in some of his designs; although he discontinued the use of dog fur in March, his pieces still include rabbit, fox, and broadtail fur. Although many designers have now rid their lines of fur - including Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Stella McCartney, Betsey Johnson, Marc Bouwer, Rebecca Taylor, Kenneth Cole, and more - Kors has refused to completely eliminate animal fur from his designs.
And inside the spring fashion show, who was gazing adoringly at the pricey garb? Why, none other than Jessica Simpson, who wears cruel fashion herself.

In fact, just a week before, Simpson was spotted leaving Ruth's Steak House in L.A. carrying an Yves Saint Laurent Mombasa bag, which has a real deer horn antler as a handle. And the price tag on the poor deer bag was $2300.

PETA's Action Center has a section for Michael Kors, where you can fill out a quick form that will go to Kors himself. The more people that fill it out - and show up for protests such as the one in NYC - the better the chances that Kors, and other designers who still use fur in their lines, will reconsider.
As far as J. Simpson goes...well, we have no advice there. We would say boycott her record, but she doesn't have one...
