Kinky Boots: The Musical

If you've never seen the film Kinky Boots you should check it out. It's the story of a shoemaker whose factory is in danger of closing down.

For whatever reason he winds up in a club where some drag queens are performing and eventually makes a pair of boots for one of the queens. This snowballs into an idea to specialize in kinky yet comfortable boots for men who were formerly forced to wear women's shoes.

Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig just acquired the rights to make this into a musical. Jerry Mitchell, who directed Legally Blonde when it was adapted for Broadway is in talks to do Kinky Boots: The Musical.

Sometimes I think they change things that are perfectly okay the way they were, but I can see how this film would adapt well to the stage.
