Ah, nature, she is amazing,
no? Here are more than 10,000 King penguins, standing together and
preparing for breeding time at St. Andrew's bay on the island of South
Georgia, a British overseas territory near the South Sandwich
Islands.
King penguins breed on seven
sub-Antarctic island groups in large populations at this time of year,
and then lay their eggs in November. They are also there to moult,
changing their little 3-foot tuxedos while they're hanging
out.
Here's a teeny video clip of
it. These are the second largest penguins in the world, if you're
wondering why they look like little men in costumes!
Don't they sound like those cow-in-a-box noisemakers when you've used it
too many times?
There are about 2 million of
these guys, and they exist on a diet of fish and squid. So...as
beautiful as this footage is, I think I'd rather be seeing the photo -
could you imagine what the smell would be like for miles? Just
guessing...
