Nas And Kelis Controversial Fashion Statement

28-year-old R&B singer/songwriter Kelis Rogers-Jones and her husband Nasir Jones, aka Nas came to the Grammy Awards last night, and Kelis was wearing a jacket that said...um...er...well, it was controversial.  With gold metallic stretch pants and a black leather jacket, Kelis had a racial term in gold studding on the back of the coat.

Okay, it's widely known that it's more acceptable to the public when a black person uses the N-word term.  Comedian and sometimes-social-activist Eddie Griffin has said that he likes to use the word because the more it's used, the less power it has over people. But Kelis, the "Tasty" and "Milkshake" singer, doesn't exactly have the best track record with racial slurs: she has been booked in Miami-Dade County Jail (last year) before for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after going off in a fit of screaming racial insults to undercover police officers after a fan yelled, "I love you, Nas!" in passing.
